One perspective I find helpful during these challenging times is looking at things from an abundance mindset rather than a scarcity mindset.
What I mean by that is that our perspective and our feelings are heavily influenced by what we focus on. In a scarcity mindset, I focus on what I don’t have e.g. freedom of movement, confidence in the future of my coaching business, etc. In an abundance mindset, I appreciate and give thanks for what I do have: my family, friends I can still talk to via video, the resources to get through this time, my health (for now).
This shift in focus seems simple but has a deep impact on my experience e.g. I could be frustrated that coaching sessions have evaporated as clients are busy figuring out their lives, or I could be thankful that I’m currently cuddled with my sleeping son on the couch after he was super cute in a video call with my parents, which is a lot more life affirming.
Stay safe, please stay separate from others to flatten the curve, wash your hands and don’t touch your face, and consider that rather than give into the anxiety and fear around what is missing from your life, take a moment to remind yourself to be thankful for what you do have.
And reach out to me to say hi – I’d love to meet more people!
