This is a great story of how practice makes all the difference, even for a high performer.
I sometimes hear from my clients that they floundered in a high stakes meeting with an investor or their CEO. And I ask them how they practiced, and they hadn’t – they thought they would be just good. I then encourage them to practice in lower stakes settings first so they’re ready for the high stakes meeting when it arrives.
I unintentionally did this as a podcast guest – unlike Shane, I am not famous so the only podcasts that would take me as a guest this year were small and low stakes. With 20 podcast interviews recorded this fall, I’m feeling confident that I’ll be ready if and when a bigger podcast reaches out.
