Take the next step until you don’t want to take another step.
It can be overwhelming to figure out what you want to do when there are many available options. Rather than spend time dithering about what the “right” thing to do is, I often find it more helpful to pick a step, any step, and go try it out. If I like it, I do more of it. If I don’t like it, I pick another direction and take another step.
You don’t have to see the whole path before taking a step. Take a step, see what that reveals, and take another step. And if you don’t want to take the next step, then you’ve learned what you need to from that path, and it’s time to explore another path.
So if there’s a path that looks interesting to you, try out a first step and see whether it interests you to take another step. Don’t make it more complicated than that; just try it and decide whether you want to take one more step.
