Sleep makes a huge difference. ”
“”
“I see a lot of #hustle culture people bragging about how hard they work, and I just don’t get it. Maybe (probably?) it’s because I’m older, but when I don’t get enough sleep, I’m just not my best self. ”
“”
“I’ve been clearly seeing this over the last couple months, as my toddler has been intermittent in sleep, a few nights sleeping through the night, then a few nights waking up 2 to 4 times through the night.”
“”
“When I wake up between 1 and 5am?”
“– I lose my temper much more easily, with little things from my kids setting me off much quicker. ”
“– I eat worse, as I can’t be bothered to cook a healthy meal so I eat whatever junk is lying around. ”
“– I stop exercising because it’s too much effort. ”
“– Sometimes I have a drink to help me get back to sleep. ”
“– I can’t focus and produce coherent writing, which means my book writing gets put on hold. ”
“”
“When I sleep through the night?”
“– I am calmer with more emotional #resilience, able to handle whatever obstacles the day brings. ”
“– I can focus and organize my thoughts into a narrative so that I make progress on writing the book. ”
“– I run and walk more consistently, and because my body is tired, I sleep better. ”
“– The exercise also gets me more sun exposure, which helps with regular sleep. ”
“– I coach better, because my needs are taken care of, so I am more able to tune into what my client needs in the moment. ”
“”
“Basically, I’m a better person in every way. I may have been able to handle lack of sleep when I was younger, but not any more. ”
“”
“How does #sleep help you be your better self?
