How are you complicit in creating the circumstances you say don’t want? This is Jerry Colonna’s wonderful coaching question that I think is so insightful.”

“People often end up in bad situations repeatedly, and don’t understand how it keeps happening to them. My personal example from dating: the first time I started dating a woman and it failed spectacularly after a couple months, I blamed the woman. When it happened again, I blamed the woman. When it happened four times in a row, I started to realize that maybe it wasn’t the woman, and I had to figure out what I was doing to create that situation.”

“Colonna calls the process radical self-inquiry – to look deeply within at our needs, and the patterns (often from childhood) that we follow to try to fill those needs. Once we realize that we are replaying those patterns, we can experiment with making different choices and consciously creating new patterns of action that may lead to different results.”

“What situation are you in that feels like it keeps happening to you? And what can you do differently to change the pattern? ”
