Who are your fellow travelers?”
“”
“Making meaningful change happen is difficult, if not impossible, alone. And yet in the individualistic American culture, people tend to focus on what they can personally do to drive change rather than seek out allies, often because they want the glory themselves if the change drives success. But other cultures understand the importance of collective action e.g. the African proverb “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.””

“This idea of finding fellow travelers has resonated with several clients recently who are trying to drive change in organizations. I like the phrase because it evokes the idea that we are all on a journey; if we can find others who are heading our way, let’s share the road together, support each other, and learn from each other. ”

“So how can you find your fellow travelers? ”
“”
“The easiest way is to speak up about where you’re going and what you value, so others can find you. It feels risky and vulnerable, but somebody has to go first. And putting your authentic voice out there is one form of leadership. ”

“What journey are you on? How can you speak up and find your fellow travelers for that journey? ”
