New Zealand 2002
I spent two weeks on vacation in New Zealand for my summer vacation in
2002. I had a great time there, and figured I would toss together a
web page with my descriptions of it while it was still fresh in my
brain both for my own memories and to point all my friends at when
they ask how it was.
Here's the basics:
- I travelled with my sister, Sonia
- 14 days in New Zealand (Aug. 19 to Sept. 1, 2002)
- 370 pictures taken on my Canon S110 Elph camera with 256 MB
CompactFlash card. Since I have memory for around 500 pictures, I
wasn't even the slightest bit discerning about pictures - I just took
snapshots of everything that caught my interest and am doing some
editing now. The pictures were all taken as JPGs at 1600x1200
resolution, but I resized most of the pictures down to 800x600 for
display on the web. If you're interested in the high-res version of a
picture, let me know.
- Itinerary was Auckland for two days, Bay of Islands and back in
two days, eight days down to Queenstown on the South Island via the
Magic Bus, one day flying back to Auckland, one more day bumming
around Auckland after my sister left.
- Books read: Cultivating Communities of
Practice, by Etienne Wenger et al., The Geography of Nowhere,
by James Kunstler, and Pillar of Fire, by
Taylor Branch
