You're all confirmed as pieces in the Lobby 7 chess game on this Thursday, March 12th, at 7:00. If you realize you can't make it, please let me know ASAP so I can grab other people. Here're some details about it: This will be a game of chess using the tiles of lobby 7 as board squares. They'll be demarked with tape, and hopefully labeled A-H and 1-8, so people can move even if they don't know chess. The tiles are all one color, but this isn't a big deal. The rug won't be comming up, but the squares under it will be taped off. Whew. I think that covers the physical layout of it. The two kings are Josh Shaine for the white side (Huzzah!) and Jay Schneider for the black (Boo! Hiss!). Jay is US Chess Federation rated around 2172, and Josh says he's floated between 1700 to 2200. Both claim they're rusty, but it should be an excellent match. It'll be real chess, not battle chess, though when a piece gets taken a mock combat with the taken peice dying dramatically would be neat :) Oh, don't bring real weapons or SCA metal nasties. I haven't talked to safety office, and don't plan to. Boffer weapons are fine if you like, but not at all necessary. If you can come dressed in costume this would be neat. The most important part of a costume is that it's close to the right color (white for white, black for black -- funny that!). The white side is going for basic knights of chivalry, honor, and glory. The black side is going for midevil Evil-Dude(tm) type stuff, with some punk thrown in it seems :). If people want to coordinate on costumes, slogans, banners, or whatever go for it, I'll be happy to help. If not, that's cool too... Oh, if you've got extra white or black clothing or costuming you could bring for folks that don't, please bring it. Also, if someone has white & black headbands or extra assassin's guild boffers that'd be great. Rhu Green will be putting your smiling faces on video tape, so smile! Please try to get to Lobby 7 by 7:00, as we can't start till everyone shows up. I'll be there at 6:30 to do the minor set-up needed and to sit & schmooze with everyone as they show :). I expect this to last a couple hours, more if we feel like it. Some people have told me they have to leave around 9:00, so we'll have substitutions made if necessary. As a historical note, this is not the first time Lobby 7 chess has been done though I don't know the story. Some of the folks playing were there the other times though, so they can tell old war stories. Whew. This is a lot more long-winded than I thought, so without further ado here's the playerlist as it stands. If you're confused with where you're cast (and I had to move at least one of you around) ask me. If you want to switch with someone, just convince them to switch with you and tell me :) Tell your friends to come & watch (2nd floor is the best view). Thanks all, and I'll see you on the 12th!
